Another week another concert, this time Depeche Mode. It was the first time I saw them, the expectations were high but were fullfilled. The place was the same as last week, Pavilhão Atlântico. It was sold out as well and also we could see a lot of people wearing black. People from all ages were presented with a set that was planned to every last bit, since their setlist had not change much on the entire tour. They brought the new album, Sounds Of The Universe, from which they played 4 songs. The concert was a blast and we could see how much they were enjoying themselfs on stage. I love when a band seems to love what they do instead of just play their set, don't speak a word and when they are done leave without pronuncing a word of belief.
Lots of the critics I read about the concert were that we the audience were great but the band didn't fullfied our needs. I don't exactly agree with them but maybe thats due to the place I stayed. I was near the front row so everything seemed great. Songs like "Walking In My Shoes", "Home", "It's No Good", "Never Let Me Down Again", "Enjoy The Silence", "Stripped" and "Personal Jesus" were some of the most enthusiastic moments. Chants and screams were heard, sometimes a little bit to much. The only thing I regret was the fact that two 40 something year old women were behind me screaming like two hysterical teenagers that were watching they're favourite band. There were times I could hear them better than Dave Gahan, Depeche Mode Singer.
My favourite part of the concert was with "It's No Good" and "Home". The first being the best because I had chills all over my body and the 2 women weren't screaming :P. The later because it was sang in a diferent version from the original with only the guitar player Martin L. Gore singing it almost in a acoustic way.
It was a great concert and I hope they return to Portugal next year or in a near time so I can see them again with my friends.
